Timeline
2021
Acquired by PEC Community Partners Inc., the historic former WWII airbase begins its transformation into Base31. What was once a dormant site is reimagined as a vibrant cultural district and future community. A new chapter shaped by history begins to unfold.
2022
Base31 officially opens to the public with its first season of events and concerts in the Drill Hall. The community doesn't just inform the vision — they help build it. Through focus groups, surveys, and the Idea Fair, neighbours shape the plan from the ground up. Early partnerships and local businesses begin to activate the site.
2023
A full concert season positions Base31 as a premier live music destination in Prince Edward County. Behind the scenes, major infrastructure work lays the foundation for long-term growth. The district continues to expand with new partners, tenants, and a growing local team.
2024
The Commissary opens as a vibrant food and gathering hub at the heart of Base31. Key milestones are reached, including municipal water connection and endorsement of the Area Concept Plan. Momentum builds as more visitors, partners, and experiences bring the site to life.
2025
The Exhibition Hall opens inside a transformed aircraft hangar, showcasing the site’s rich history and the Lancaster Bomber KB 882. Base31 delivers its largest season yet, welcoming thousands of visitors and expanding its family-friendly and cultural offerings. Planning milestones continue with approval of the Base Living subdivision.
2026
Construction begins on the first Base Living village, named Hilltop, marking the next phase of growth at Base31. Homes start to take shape as the vision transitions from destination to everyday community. The future of living at Base31 officially begins.

Built in 1940 as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, this site has carried generations of stories.
