Experience
In 1980, Lola earned her Commercial Pilot license and became one of the first few professional female pilots in Canada. She worked as a supervising instructor at private flight schools and DeHavilland Flight Safety, a charter/medevac pilot for private companies, and flew a scheduled passenger service on the Twin Otter for the Ontario Government. Her last flight test was on the DeHavilland DASH8.

In her personally narrated PowerPoint presentation, Lola explains the rewards of an aviation career and the challenges women continue to face. She offers several possible reasons why women remain underrepresented in commercial aviation (worldwide, only 5% of pilots are female!) and why aviation and STEM careers lure few women. Lola’s professional associations include the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots, Northern Lights Aero Foundation, and The Writers Union of Canada.
